Les Frigos

Built in 1921 opposite the Bercy warehouses, the Paris-Ivry cold store supplied Les Halles de Paris for 40 years. A veritable "belly" of the capital, trains rushed through day and night, loaded with foodstuffs from the four corners of France.

A quirky place, between Baroque and street art

Built in the 1920s, the Frigos de Paris buildings were originally used as a railway refrigerated warehouse. Abandoned in the 1970s as an industrial wasteland, the building was occupied in the 1980s by newcomers, artists and craftsmen attracted by its size and the quality of its thermal and acoustic insulation. The upper floors have been transformed into artists’ studios, exhibition galleries, photo studios… Since then, the site has remained a benchmark for the new territories of contemporary art in Paris.

In a dreamlike setting, where rococo furniture and Venetian marble are lit by the glow of hundreds of candles, this totally atypical, timeless space can accommodate from 100 people for dinner to 200 for cocktails and dancing. Between dream and reality, this extraordinary venue is also open to corporate events.

The Frigos de Paris, a former Paris refrigeration station that became an industrial wasteland in the 70s, has become a totally offbeat venue and a benchmark for new territories in contemporary art.
